Our pick this round is in the Sports category, and That's What She Said is proud to select: Field of Dreams.
This 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner as Ray Kinsella, a farmer determined to keep his land that hears a voice among the tall corn saying, "If you build it, he will come." He begins a journey that involves plowing part of his field to build a baseball diamond where the ghosts of former MLB players came to throw the ball around and play. His journey affirms his love for the purity of the game and helps him (and a few others) resolve issues that they had buried in the past and planned to leave there.
This film was a movie that dealt with many things, but at its heart it was about the love of a boy for his father and the uber-American past-time of baseball. Before the strikes that ruined several seasons and the steroids that have come to haunt the MLB of today. This is my favourite of the Costner baseball movies altho Bull Durham is pretty awesome too.
