Being an active fulltime firefighter for 4 years the advice i can give you would be to get your EMR certification. Figure out where you want to work first before paying 10000 for a fire school. Calgary fire does not require your NFPA 1001(ff cert from fire school) to apply. You do have to pass a stupid polygraph though. Same goes for Edmonton fire minus the polygraph. Both those cities are hiring huge numbers in the next few years so my advice would be apply.
It doesnt hurt to volunteer somewhere as well, alot of those departments will get you alot of the courses you need.
Bottom line is that the fire school does not guarantee you a job and could prove to be a waste of money if you get hired in edm or calgary as they train you again to what they want.
