I've used Dreamhost for the past 2-3 years for many sites, some with relatively high traffic levels, and agree. Even though they're often lumped in with other 'bargain' hosting (which in most cases means terrible service and even worse offerings), I've been pleased with the scope of options they provide -- everything from one-click installs if you don't want to get your hands dirty, to some more advanced server-side management if you're into that kind of thing. And their communication and customer support is quite good too -- they've had some hiccups, but seem to come back stronger each time. I wouldn't use it for mission-critical sites, but I'm comfortable enough with them that I run my freelancing business off their services.
