Look at it this way, if someone told you there was a gangland shooting in harlem who would you suspect the assailant to be?
If you had to generalize what traits would you give this person? Don't lie.
If you said a young black male I don't think that makes you a racist it just means that you have an understanding of the world we live in and are able to make generalizations about people.
That is not to say that you would assume that all young black males are gang involved, drug dealing murderers just as I don't assume all elderly, old, white, rich republicans are racist. Just that they may have a higher rate of racism, just like how you assumed that the assailant in my example was probably a young black male.
