Heatley signs 3 year extension

Raleigh, NC - Carolina Hurricanes General Manager Hanna Sniper announced today the signing of team leader Dany Heatley to 3-year contract extensions. As per club policy, financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Playing in his 2nd season with the Carolina Hurricanes, Heatley led the team in goals (40), assist (46) and points (86) despite playing in only 75 games due to a leg injury during the 2007-08 season. Heatley also appeared in eighteen playoff games registering thirteen goals and twelve assists.

In the two years with the Hurricanes Heatley has tallied consecutive 40 goal season for (80), led the Hurricanes in assist for consecutive years with (102) and amassing a total of 182 total points.

Heatley said the direction the Hurricanes are moving and the very tangible chance to win a Stanley Cup coupled with the addition of Jarome Iginla made the decision to sign a contract extension relatively easy.
