180 is the fastest I've ever gone when I was younger and dumber. Although a couple of my friends when younger and dumber would always make top speed runs up the really steep section of Shaganappi where it's 3 lanes wide running up beside Nose Hill. For those not familiar, it's quite a steep hill, so usually you can top out pretty quickly going up it, as your top speed on that hill is way way less than what you'd hit on flat ground. I was curious what my current car would do, and one of these guys had the itch to do a bomb up the hill while a couple other guys watched for other traffic at the top with cell phones to make sure the road was empty both ways. He took it over 200km before deciding that was enough and shutting it down.
Oddly my last car was also driven it's fastest by a friend. I think I had it for one week and my friend asked if he could drive us back to his parents acreage. He ended up not being able to say no to racing this trans am and had us to 200 as well.... while it was still being broken in... haha.
I really can't remember the last time I've been over 160 now... too afraid of hitting animals even if the road is empty.
