I can't get why it would be aliens in the first place. Do you really think they fly light years to get here and then form some crappy patterns and take off? It sure isn't from their landing space crafts because it would be a hell of a design flaw to have landing gears shaped like some of those things and expect to explore the galaxy but only be able to land on a completely flat surface about an acre in size. And if they are doing it for shats and giggles then they are more sadistic than I could ever of imagined.
