while good, i would call saltlik like an earl's version of a steakhouse...actually, if i'm not mistaken it's owned by earl's, too...it's more upscale casual...that said, since it's a steakhouse, it'll cost a little more to eat there than earl's, think keg prices...i know you were saying you didn't want to consult a loans officer prior to eating, so if it's steak you want, this is a good moderate priced option
if looking for a more upscale steakhouse i would say chicago chophouse on stephen ave and 5th st. it's just a little off the pedestrian only area of stephen ave... the only other upscale ones worth recommending are off stephen ave. such as caesars or vintage chophouse.
i don't really recommend ruth's chris because it's american beef, and they heat their plates so the bottom part of the steak is always cooked more than the top from the heat on the plate. it gives an uneven cook job even if the chef does it right...
