It doesn't matter if cigarettes are additive free or blended or organic. Anything, even if it's herbal, absolutely any plant on this earth that if you burn...will pyrolize into toxic, poisonous, and carcingogenic compounds and chemicals that you inhale. Heck, nicotine is actually one the most potent and commonly used pesticides in the world in the first place!
Think about it this way. Whether there are pesticides on it or not, cigarettes burn at up to 700º Celsius. At those temperatures, most pesticides or chemicals will be burned up anyway...and what's left will be totally changed by the reactions into something much worse. The additives and pesticides are not the poison. The products of burning the cigarette and whatever it is in it (straight tobacco, additives, everything) is what is the actual poison.
If you enjoy smoking, just smoke. There is no such thing as a safer cigarette. Light, herbal, organic, natural, additive free, etc. It is all marketing and nonsense.
As for additives, in Canada, the majority of the cigarettes on the market all come from the same dozen Ontario tobacco farms. All use pure virginia bright leaf tobacco without additives and that's the overwhelming style of cigarette in Canada and always has been. It's American and other cigarettes that are usually blended with different kinds of tobacco and have added flavor and aroma compounds and other additives, artificial, natural, or otherwise.
If you're going to enjoy smoking and don't fear dying from it...might as well enjoy something tasty.
Remember, Winston tastes good "snap snap", like a cigarette should!
In my opinion, the only "safe" alternatives are Swedish Snus (steamed tobacco which is not burned thus not pyrolized), electronic cigarettes (nicotine and glycol solution which is atomized for inhalation), and Nicotine gum...This is "safer" but bear in mind that Nicotine itself is used as a pesticide by farmers and industry.
