Hey This is Fun – Let’s Play One More!

The Wild aren’t ready to hit the links yet.

Indeed, the young Minnesota squad have done what few thought would be possible – take the Nashville Predators to a 7th and deciding game.

Game 6 was a microcosm of the series so far. Once again – the team that received the better goaltending won the game as Tomas Vokoun outplayed Domink Hasek in the cages. Thus far, there has not been a single game where both goalies have brought their A game.

Meanwhile the Wild offense was paced early by some unlikely sources – Ben Clymer, and Keith Carney both scored their first goals of the post season in the first period to stake the Wild to a 2-0 lead. The Preds closed the gap to 1 in the 2nd before yet another unlikely scorer – Dave Scatchard restored the Wild 2 goal lead. Mario Lemieux brought the Preds close again, however Brendan “Mr. Third Period” Morrow once again provided heroics in the final frame – scoring a key insurance goal. For Morrow the goal was his 6th in the playoffs – all scored in the third periods of games.

Game 7 will be played tomorrow in Nashville. It remains to be seen if the Wild will be a simple first round annoyance for the Preds on their way to CPHL glory, if they can achieve the unthinkable.

It should be doozy.
