I had this fight with my girlfriend the other day. I am upset that she decided to commit a whole hell of a lot of time and money to two weddings this year, as opposed to taking whats going to turn into $2000 for other people to get married and coming on a vacation (which I need SOOOO bad...).
But in the end, she has a right to spend her cash on whatever she wants. If I want to go on vacation without her (as much as it would suck) I can, and she has no right to be upset.
Actually, so long as our responsibilities to each other are taken care of (rent, bills, stash/booze money) then we don't generally even give the other an opinion of what they should or shouldn't be spending on.
Its a slippery slope dood. Give her this one and soon she'll be thinking she knows whats best for you about everything. And then you're eff'd.
I could see if this was selling a TV, Gym Equipment, a Stamp Collection, Model Trains, or whatever. But it seems to me shes making you sell something you love, that she sees as something that might just possibly take time away from her. Which is lame.
Never ever sell an instrument, especially a good one, for some broad. ANYTHING ELSE, but not instruments.
Just my opinion. Best of luck.
