I'm not going to debate you on "real games" as that is about as subjective as you get. I am personally tired of the FPS genre, and felt it peaked with Half-Life 2.
Third party developers and publishers will not be able to ignore the largest userbase very long if they want to maximize profits. People were saying the same thing about the DS three years ago (ala no good third party games), and now you can find a plethora of good third party offerings on it.

The PS1 had terrible third party support until its userbase could no longer be ignored.
