20 categories seems like too many. With 30 teams, that's 600 picks. If we average 50 picks a week (which I'd think is higher than we can realistically expect), it'll take at least 12 weeks to get through it all, which takes us past Thanksgiving. I think 15 categories should be the maximum.
Also, it seems like too many small genres, with a lot of overlap between them. I'd prefer to keep the genres more broadly defined, which would also give people more freedom with their picks. I think it'd be interesting to see someone attempt to do an "All Sci-Fi" or an "All Western" team.
Also, rather than Made outside the USA, I'd like to see a Non-English category, and because most of us are Canadian, a Made in Canada category (or even a Made in Alberta, since there have been quite a few).
Here's a list of categories that I think would generate some interesting teams... - pre-1960
- 1960s
- 1970s
- 1980s
- 1990s
- 2000s
- Best Picture/Screenplay (Oscar, Golden Globes, Cannes, Sundance)
- Drama
- Comedy
- Animated
- Documentary
- Black & White
- Non-English language
- Made in Canada
- Wild Card

Personally, I'd take out pre 1960 and 60s, documentary and black & white. Lets make it less snobbish, I'd rather see people picking movies they really watch and enjoy, rather than pick highly rated black and white movies off imdb.com because really, can anyone name 30 quality black and white or pre 60s movies off the top of their head?
