We took our daughter camping with us last August when she would have been 6 or 7 months old. We had a small backpacking tent so a play pen or peapod or whatever wouldn't work for us. She slept in the tent with us curled up in our sleeping bags (which were zipped together).
We were still all sleeping in the same bed at that point so it wasn't a big deal for the three of us in the same sleeping bag. It was pretty warm so for the most part we were on top of an sleeping bag with just a light blanket. I was a bit worried how our kid would do but she loved it. All the fresh air knocked her out.
