Lived in Van in 87/88 and it is a great place when the sun is shining but not cheap except flowers and fruit. But after the beautiful summer the winter is dreadful.
Wet, really wet, cold rain and cloudy, just depressing, but as they say in Van if you don't go out when it's raining you might as well not live there.Lot's to do because of the water, sailing and such but I still seemed to leave the city whenever possible to explore Washinton State or the island(s).The same for every city imo.
Calgary is extremely fortunate because we haven't sold access to our river, cleanup on May 15 i think.Lot's of fun.
Buy a dog ,we have more off-leash areas than anywhere in the world.
I didn't see this mentioned but for a nice picnic drive up Crowchild and take any of the roads past Rocky Ridge Rd and explore the amazing houses on your way to the 567 road then watch for Big Hill Springs, beautiful set of waterfalls.
