For those who are advocating a new villain, one of the dynamics is that, while Nolan is putting a fresh new spin on the franchise, he ultimately has to cater to the fans of yesteryear Batman. I think it's safe to bet that a large part of why the Dark Knight is doing so well is because fans who enjoy classic batman (thus, older folks) were enticed to see a new spin on the Joker, a character they were familiar with in the past. When I was in the theatre, there was just as many older folks as there were younger ones.

It would be easy to move into characters that are lesser known, but why mess with success? Nolan's Batman series has been hugely profitable with characters that people can recognize, and if done correctly (ex. Heath Ledger), the characters can a huge hit once again. And since there are characters like the Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face (assuming he's not dead), Bane, and others still available, I say go with the tools that are already out on the table.

They still haven't even tackled the Robyn character yet, although I'd be surprised if they did.
Oh yeah I do which is why I said I would prefer a more low-key villain for the next film (if there is going to be one) which is why I recommended ‘Hush’. Not very well known but could easily fit into Nolan’s Gotham. I just think that the Riddler could be a possibility but yes I would wait at least another movie.

Also I just remembered did anyone pick up on that foreshadowing for a Catwoman possibility?

When Lucius gives Bruce his new armor, Bruce asks if the armor will stand up to dogs to which Lucius replies: It'll stop a cat

A stretch I know buy hey
