Forget trying to get cash back yourself. My wife and I argued with a manager at home outfitters about the very same thing for half an hour. We left with yet another gift card. The only way to get anything else is if the original person who bought it goes back with their original receit (not a gift receit) and then they will refund it back the way it was purchased, like onto the credit or debit card or cash if it was bought that way. it´s brutally annoying especially because we already had about $700 in gift cards. now we have $750. the only place that will ever give you cash is Sears. HBC is an evil organization. once they have your money, there´s no way it´s coming back.
