Yes, wood sticks will produce a harder shot than composite stick. However, composite sticks with tapered shafts (the majority of them) will produce a more accurate shot due to concentrated loading and the puck will get off your blade quicker thus reducing the time that the goaltender has to react from the point of release to the time the puck reaches the goal from a given location.
