Either that or fix the god damn problem.

The problem is that in Baseball and in the AL East in particular, it's very difficult to make the playoffs. You know as well as anyone on this forum...that the Jays probably don't have the pieces they need to in order to make a legitimate playoff run this year, or even next year. Teams like Oakland, Minnesota, and Cleveland are willing to trade their top guys for a heap of prospects and attempt to piece together a playoff calibre team at a later date. Those teams don't fact quite the same hurdles as the Jays do in the AL East as they don't neccessarily have to compete with two big spenders in their Division to make the playoffs. But these are teams who do find a way to make the playoffs or be in contention.
It's just a shame that a guy as good as Halladay isn't even getting a sniff of the playoffs. Other guys similar to him usually get at least one or two cracks at it with their team before they move on to a high payroll team, but Toronto hasn't even been close for years. I think it would leave a huge hole in the rotation more than anything. But the team has shown that even with top notch pitching they still haven't been good enough to really compete for a playoff spot as they've been at least 5 games out pretty much all year.
