It is vile and disgusting and I am so very, very glad that we have managed to rid ourselves of it here in Canada and I look forward to the day when the rest of the world is able to follow suit.
Compensation is not vengeance. Compensation is justice: A penalty that fits the crime. Vengeance is taking the law into your own hands. It isn't a balanced response and often escalates.
