Exactly.
In the end whatever you do, make sure its something you can stick with. That's why I suggested weaning yourself down to 16 ounces of pop instead of cutting it out cold turkey.
As for the aspertame, I was told that by my doctor as well. Basically your body becomes less able to handle actual sugar when it does get it, and it ends up being worse for you in the end.
