You don't need an unlimited text plan, you just need a text plan, which start at $3/month.
I have had a cell phone for about 12 years and worked in the industry for about 4 years and I have never had or heard one of my friend talk about a spam text they got.
Do these things happen a lot that I don't hear of? (not being a d**k, its a serious question)
The only texts that I hear about are those jokes/horoscopes of the day ones, which are coming from a service you would have had to sign up with yourself.
