I only saw a bit of the game last night, and I was liking what Mullinicks was saying. It was during Rios' at bat in the 8th, and with 0 out, a runner on first, and a full count, Rance was saying last night Rios bit on a curve, he needs to sit on the pitch and wait it out. Pit comes in - a curve, and Rios was ripping away at it, missing by a foot at a pitch that fell 8" outside the strike zone.
That's the type of MLB hitters insight I hope to hear - a solid batter who remembered what the pitcher did last night and showed the fans a hitters thought process. It seems fewer and fewer colour guys are willing to take you inside the strategy of the game; they all seem more interested in coming up with an anecdote for every player at bat.
