Well, today I just recieved Half Life 2 from Staples. To start things off my first unpleasent surprise was finding out that I would need to pay the bus depot $12 for shipping it when the first order from them had free shipping. I even bought a pack of blank DVD cases to make my order over $50 and qualify for free shipping. I wasnt too happy about that but there wasnt anything I could do to get out of paying shipping.

Then after having to install it three times(found out after the second try that you cant select not to install Counterstrike without getting errors) I found out that there was no CD key listed on the box or CD sleeves. I checked Vivendi Universal Games' tech support on sending back games without CD keys and it said to contact the store you bought it from to ask for an exchange. I emailed Staples and got a message back saying that they dont accept exchanges on open software yet they say in their help section that they gladly exchange defective software. Wouldnt not having a CD key count as defective software? I cant play the game unless I activate it with the CD key.

After finding that out I went back to Vivendi Universal Games' website and found out if the store I bought it from wont exchange it I have to send it to California for a replacement and pay the shipping. For what I'm going to have to pay for that I might as well have bought the Collectors Edition. Staples has officially lost my business.
