I think part of the reason is that he is not trying to be the "star" in the movies he's in. A lot of pop stars come into movies and expect to be the lead character right off the bat, but Justin Timberlake seems to content to accept supporting roles and be mentored by more experienced actors. In the long run, it should help him become a more serious actor.

Its true he has done some dramatic roles well, but he looks horrible in a comedy role.
Goes to show again, how hard it is to be a comedic actor, wake up Oscars!
