I actually prefer a physical keyboard to the touch screen one, but I don't do enough emails on device to see the touch screen keyboard as a huge detractor.

The difference to me would be in the screen size when the keyboard isn't needed. For my calendar, contacts, music, etc.. the screen is awesome. I guess I just don't get why there needs to be a keyboard at all times. I suppose some wouldn't like the lack of tactile feeling of the touch keyboard, but I don't notice anymore.
