Ya, again, sorry for being a dink about it. I know you didn't mean anything by it. I've been misunderstood a few times on this board, especially the OT forum, and so maybe I'm paranoid about having my meanings misconstrued. Sorry if I took that out on you.

Anyway, I know what you mean. I think maybe I'm trying to hard to find something redeeming in his work, because the alternative is too frightening: namely how a film-maker who showed so much talent at such a young age could drop off so drastically so quickly.

I do stand by 'The Village' though as a very under-rated film. While the plot may have been predictable (I didn't think so, but I'm kind of dense), I really thought there was some amazing imagery going on. The red flags at the edge of town, the wolf/beast costume in the closet, the photographs William Hurt was keeping... all that stuff was pretty cool imo.
