For me, the thing with A&W is that their whole "nostalgic feel-good" approach makes me feel like an old man whenever I choose to eat there, with all the old photos from 1952 and the ridiculous cold-war era, Rocky and Bullwinkle-esque animations on their wrappers (for the record I was born several decades after the 1950s). Too bad they still don't have the old-style drive-ins where you sat on your lardy butt in your parked car, the girl came up to your window and took your order, then brought it back to you when it was ready. It was the ultimate in greasy convenience, and you'd get the frosty glass mug too! *Then* they could justify the old-timey feel to the place, but now that it's the same dreary drive-thru as everyone else, they might as well replace Grampa with some hip-hop star and Mama with some sexy anorexic to keep up with the times.
