Utterly useless triva thread
For all those odd details that nobody knows, and likely doesn't care about either!
Came across this in an old newspaper article today:
- In 1967, Calgary passed Los Angeles to become the city with the most automobiles, per capita, in the world. There was 1 car for every 2.2 people in the city.
- When the Calgary Hitmen unveiled their name and logo, people upset with the "stereotypical depiction of violence in hockey" started comparing the team to the Chicago Mafia.
- Hines Creek, Alberta, home of the "Worlds Largest Railway Spike", and has the motto "end of steel" ironically has no rail line running through it. The line was removed some years ago.
