Does anyone have any experience with custom skate orthotics?

I'm not talking mass produced ones like Superfeet but the real deal prescribed by a podiatrist. I have the feet of a 60 year old (I apologize to the 60 year olds out there... sorry about your feet) and have had orthotics for my shoes for a couple of years now. The podiatrist recommended I also get them for my skates since I play 2-3 times a week. I've held off but of late my feet seem to be getting worse.

If anyone has any experience with them I'd appreciate hearing about it. Did they help? Any suggestions of where to go here in Calgary? I'll probably just go back to the place that made my shoe orthotics, but perhaps there's somewhere that has a greater focus on sports.
