Also, in terms of "long", there's also too long for me. I love, love long hair on girls, but not hippy, 60's long. Anything beyond the middle of her back is too long. Hair down to a girl's waist is a big no-go for me.

No, i addressed that in my original post. Her 'short' was approaching 'medium', and her really short was just plain bad. Plus, the longer it got the better it got.
And i agree, there is also too long. Then it just starts to seem like bad hygene or something - i mean it still needs to be cut sometimes! Just not so short you could put the same hair on a guy and they would look.... like a guy!
