There is still a small chance that a seventh lane could be added to the final to allow the Canadians to compete. The first two appeals were rejected.

I don't think so. Presumably you're referring to this quote from the article:

"If they try to assess whether the punishment fits the crime, whether they did it intentionally, whether [the Canadians] are competitive enough to be in, there's an outside chance – way outside – that FISA will entertain the idea of a seventh lane," said McBean.

But that was actually a comment that she made prior to this FISA ruling. I think now that FISA (whatever the hell that is) has made their decision, there's no more chances for appeal. But when you're competing at that level, how do you make a mistake like getting out of your lane? Ah well, we deserve bad karma now because of the GoldenPalace guy.

In regards to the athletes complaining, I actually don't think it's much of a Canadian thing--lots of other athletes from other nations have been making complaints throughout the games, but as Canadians, I think we're more sensitive to our athletes doing things that might be considered uncouth. Personally, I'm proud of athletes like Beckie Scott who speak out about what they perceive as injustices in the sport.
