That's just me though, I may be an idiot...after all, I was born just miles below that magic 49th parallel!
The video of his interview tape is on the Season 1 DVD and also on Youtube. He revealed he thought he was reading for a side-kick in one of his TV interviews, Leno or Letterman I think. Or maybe it was on Inside the Actor's Studio.

Mr. Mastadon, the reason I follow Hugh Laurie's career so much is that he is both a hero to me as an actor and musician and his problems are very...relatable for myself. I know he is unhappy with many aspects of House and pessimistic about his but he also loves making people laugh and I'd like to see more of that on the show. I'm not blaming the show. For some reason you think I hate the show. It's probably the only American TV show I tune into weekly. I just think it could be better for him and the audience for them to tweak the format a little more and use more of his talents.

There's so much life and comedy coming from him in his non-House appearances, like on Jay Leno two weeks ago. They need to put that improvisational charm and wit a bit more into the show somehow.
