The island "moving" explains why Jack can't find it in the future.
It appears Locke has been groomed for protector of the island possibly even before Ben's arrival. I don't think the island played Ben, but Ben is now being punished for acting selfishly: kidnapping the daughter, having Juliet's lover killed, shooting Locke. IMO, these actions have caused Ben to lose touch with the island.
Sayid should make a surprise rescue on the island, since he was boating to the island before the doctor started drifting there.
Is Claire now dead?
It seems Widmore wants to find the island to destroy it?
