Yeah there really isn't much that you can do in this situation (sorry), there is a good chance that your bike right now is in the back of a truck on it's way to Vancouver or somewhere in the States never to be seen or heard from again. It sucks an insane amount, but if you have homeowners insurance there are plans that do cover bike theft, especially if it took place at your residence and if there is as much damage as it sounds like there really shouldn't be any doubt that your bike was stolen.

Not covered. I suggested it to her when she bought it, but her beliefs include not insuring basically anything because its asking for bad karma. Its one of those things about her that drive me crazy, but I can deal with that.
Unfortunately, it doesn't change the fact that she loaned it to me and it was stolen under my use, so I'm on the hook for a new one. I'll be hitting up all the usual websites today if it means saving six or seven hundred.
