I don't get 'the code'. There are exceptions to every rule. Firstly, unless I'm still harbouring something for my ex, he's fair game. I'd even go out of my way to set him up with my friends if I thought they'd be good together. Just because your friend's ex is hot, that shouldn't mean he's the only one that gets to plow her. It could be you'd be better suited.
Now, all that said, based the OP's info in the thread, it would just be sex to him... Is that what she wants? You said she's clingy... if she wants more, then having sex is definitely a bad idea.
