Despite being a fan, I agree that there are some missteps in the way the story develops. Sometimes the writers string along the viewers with their little mysteries, and they know the viewers will eat it up. One example from last night is the long delay before we find out that it is in fact Kate that Jack is living with. It wasn't too much, though. It would have been really lame if they didn't reveal it was Kate until the end of the episode (something like they did earlier in the season with the Jin/Sun flashback).
Also, in regards to Jack's appendix. Why would he try to hide it? I'm no doctor, but once those start going bad, you pretty much have to get it out, right? Why would he try and hide it? I'm assuming that the doc really did know what was wrong with him.
