Don't cross home plate. Don't even come close! Any contact with home plate (in either league) and you are out. Saves on collisions.
SW team plays with a "third strike foul out" while Central doesn't.
SW team can play fielders anywhere, where Central has a 150' line for outfielders and infielders cannot be inside the baselines.
SW team has 7 run max per inning and plays a "3 up" home run limit rule. Central has 5 run max but no limits on home runs.
SW team has umps and NO strike mat, Central umps your own batters but has a strike mat.
SW team has stricter rules on bats, Central team has a more flexible set of guidelines.
SW team plays 7/3 (guys/girls) while Central is 6/4.
Those are about the only differences.
Edit, oh and the SW team uses 11" balls for lady batters where the Central team uses the standard softball for both male and female.
