I heart the NFL draft. The NHL and MLB drafts more often than not feature players a few years away from the big show and the NBA is just lame.

Miami - Long and Henne? I half expected them to take Hart in the later rounds. I didnt like Henne when he was at Michigan, but one thing that can be said for the top 3 Michigan players (Long, Henne, Hart) is that they have loads of character. Those three alone kept that Michigan team together at the start.

Now, the AFC West:

Oakland - They got the best talent in the draft... at a position in which they are 4 (now 5) deep. Sigh... Skeletor is still alive and well. Meanwhile Derrick Burgess is going to have to do it all by his lonesome on the d-line. Trading for Hall (2nd rounder) and last year to NE (3rd rounder) left this Raiders fan a little bored after #4.

Kansas - Congrats. You guys cleaned up. I (a Raiders fan) would have preferred Dorsey, but, to then pick up Brandon Albert who to some was the second best offensive lineman in the draft? Nice. And Charles in the third round is nice because I think LJ isnt going to be a Chief for much longer (headcase).

Denver - Clady was a good pick. Some question his runblocking skills and his footwork, but if there's a team in the NFL that can develop an offensive line, it's Denver. I watched a lot of Spencer Larson in Arizona the past few years. Displaced, I think this guy can be a contributor in a couple seasons. Will be a special teams guy to start, but I do think he's got the skills to see the field on defense. Sorry about the Ryan Torian pick... Denver should know to stay away from those ASU types .

San Diego - Not a whole lot of need on this team. Antone Carson is another Arizona pick and a Thorpe winner. He's small but lightning quick and was a game changer for the Wildcats. He'll contribute immediately on PR/KR and may slide into some nickel and dime packages. A couple interesting picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds with Hester and Thomas (FB/RB). But, when you are going to win the division for the next couple years and you have the best draft record over the past 5 years, you can take some liberties.
