It's a shampoo (removes DHT from your head), a conditioner (revitalizes the roots), and a scalp treatment after the shower (usually a few sprays, like mousse, which helps bring blood flow to the scalp).

It takes about 2 months for your hair to stop receding and fully accept the Nioxin treatment, and initially you will have more-than-usual hair loss, but this is normal for all new users. After that, you hair feels like it's made of iron.

It's not a be-all,end-all product, but Nioxinism is the only hair religion I will follow. It's done miracles for me. To be honest, I can see a few new hairs sprouting along my hairline that wouldn't have been there before, although they are sparse and thin.

I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to use it, and again, its only about $80 for about 4-6 months of use (depending on how much you use). Well worth the investment.

Once you stop using it though, the recession continues. It's a lifer product.
