Porn is more abundant and socially acceptable now. To deny that it alters your perception of acceptable sexual behavior would be extremely naive. It stands to reason that incidents that would be a result of this altered perception would be more abundant as porn becomes more available.
So it is clear that there is some connection, but I don't think that connection is strong enough to warrant taking this action. I would argue that fighting against an enemy that uses women and children as suicide bombers, would increase hatred towards the people you are supposed to be defending, making them more easily considered as targets of sexual assault or any other type of violence.
Soldiers raped women in Vietnam and Korea as well, so I don't think there is allot different now other than the media coverage that has made it a larger issue.
