It's funny because I would say they are far more relevant than any other hard rock/metal acts that were also popular during the mid to late 90s.
RHCP suck now, KoRn has fallen off the map, Metallica sucks, all of the grunge bands are gone, Limp Bizkit is gone, the Smashing Pumpkins are gone. Green day sold out and now blow pretty big chunks, the Offspring are gone. Hell even the bands like STP, Guns n Roses and Chris Cornell have not been able to capture past glory.
Only Tool and NIN are still relevant and making good music out of almost any band I can think of that was popular during that time period.
