I can't say I've ever experienced this. Any church I have ever been to has passed the collection plate around and that's about the extent of it. The pastor may quote a passage about charity, but that's as pushy as I've seen it. I'm sure some churches may be a little more forthright but in general I think Christians who tithe do so not strictly because they want to get to heaven but because they want to attend a place of worship that has heat and electricity. A lot of churches barely scrape by.
