It wasn't 'those writers' that said it, the article states it was Jim Salinger (Climate Scientist @ New Zealand's National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research). The article is specifically talking about Australian & New Zealand barley production. It says that if things get hotter/drier, less barley can be grown in Australia. Not exactly mind-blowing, seems pretty obvious. You're pretty quick to snipe at someone's credibility.
