Listening to him talk with the Tabler and Campbell, he certainly still has the same attitude ego that barely fits in the Skydome and that spit on that umpire. When asked about the HoF, instead of giving the standard "lets see, but it would be an honor", instead, the answer was "I fully expect so".
Tabler was also saying that when he asked Joe Carter when Alomar came in, Carter said that Ryne Sandberg (at that time, an all star in his prime) couldn't hold a candle to Alomar. From all stories that I've heard Carter's mouth and ego was pretty big before like that, and hitting that home run in the WS has had him thinking he's bigger than life, putting his nose up at a lot of requests.
Good ball players, both of them, but it displays how good a manager Cito Gaston was in managing personalities in that clubhouse, having to deal with those two, the engimatic Dave Winfield, other purported dinks in Kelly Gruber and Ed Sprauge and the always touchy Dave Steib. And the next year, king dink of them all, Rickey Henderson.
