That being said, it's pointless to bring this up now. Lukiwski has apologized for his remarks, and he seems sincere. Society's attitudes towards homosexuals have advanced greatly since 1991. If the NDP or whoever else really wanted to slam the CPC or one of their MPs, there's plenty of recent ammunition to use.

Not too mention, the AIDS epidemic was barely understood in 1991. A lot of people thought that it could be spread through casual contact.
