This is a couple days late, but give me a break.
You don't play small ball in the 2nd inning. I see the need for it later in games, but the 2nd inning simply isn't time to bunt. You might scratch across a run, but that's hardly worth completely eliminating the chance for a big inning in a 0-0 game.
