Free speech, yada yada. They have a right to protest here. In China, they do not. That's what makes the difference, whether you like it or not or what side you are on.
While the majority of the Chinese population in Calgary and Canada up to the turn of the century was mostly Cantonese from the Hong Kong region and thusly virulently anti-Communist China, immigration from Mainland China has increased substantially in the past decade and that is probably leading to this, or it may simply be somebody pulling the strings down at the Chinese consulate in Calgary or whatever.
