How is this a sign of "worsening" global warming? It's perhaps a sign that this area of the Antarctic is warmer now than it was when the ice shelf formed, but the fact that it collapsed now, as opposed to 10 years ago, does NOT necessarily mean that the area is warmer now than it was 10 years ago.
It takes an ice cube 20 minutes to melt if you put it on your kitchen counter. That doesn't mean the kitchen is warmer than it was 5 minutes ago...even though there's less and less ice over time. It means it's warmer than the freezer.
