Nah, he went pretty far out of his way to show this girl up. As mentioned by others, you take the high road and it makes the other party look that much worse.

Taking the high road is overrated, there are some people...like the woman in this story, who deserve to be embarrassed badly. In a way, how else will they learn not to treat other people that way.
As for being "un-selective", well that's just not the point at all. I've been guilty of this, where I was sleeping with a woman I hated while still dating other women just because...it's kind of hard to give up a good thing
